Letter 19.12.2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
We seek to ensure that children have access to a well-rounded diet while at school at no cost to their parents. This included breakfast, a break time snack and lunch. All food is cooked fresh every day by our amazing kitchen team, the menu for which can be found on our website.
Many of our students can find food a challenge in different ways, or have different dietary needs due to allergies, or a high or low-calorie diet. If your child has specific dietary requirements as advised by a medical practitioner, please contact our family liaison team to discuss.
We do allow children to bring in a packed lunch if they will not eat a school one, and request that the items inside mirror the sorts of food we serve in school. We ask that all food is nut free as we do have pupils with nut allergies.
However, there are certain foods that we ask parents to not send into school:
- Sweets
- More than one chocolate bar (standard size)
- Fizzy drinks and sports drinks
- High sugar fruit juices
Packed lunches should include a sandwich or such like that does not need refrigeration and is nut free, healthy snacks such as fruit, and a sweet treat if suitable, but not food that can be shared (cake bars etc are great.)
Children should not be bringing in their own drinks; if they do, they will be asked to put them away until the end of the day. Cordial, fruit juice and water are provided as and when children want a drink.
We also ask that children do not bring in additional snacks – plenty is provided in school. If your child requires a high calorie diet, please speak with our family liaison team and a plan can be arranged to support this, so your child can have their snack without interference from other pupils or lost learning time.
Thank you for your support with this.
Kind regards,
Sarah Makin
