Attendance at school is really important. It ensures that all of our young people can progress and achieve their full potential. At Reddish Hall, we are proud of the relationships that we have with our pupils, parents and carers. We recognise that we need to work together with a mutual understanding of the same end goal – getting our young people back into a school environment where they feel heard and supported. We ask for parent’s and carers support and co-operation in attendance matters.
Kaiya Garside is responsible for the attendance at Reddish Hall School, alongside the DSL and the wider Family Liaison Team. Kaiya is happy to speak with you over the phone or meet with you face to face by appointment. If you would like to make an appointment with Kaiya, please do so via the school office 0161 442 1197.
Absence procedure:
- All absences must be reported by 08:30am to pupilabsence@reddishhallschool.co.uk or 0161 442 1197.
- Any absences that have not been reported by parents/carers by 9:30am will trigger a text message from the system asking for contact to be made.
- If we still have no contact after the text message, an email/phone call/home visit may be carried out. Please note that it is not always possible for us to conduct a home visit by appointment and some home visits will be ‘unannounced’.
Planned term-time absence procedure:
- All pre-planned absences (family occasions, life events, religious observance, holidays etc) must be requested in writing to kaiya.garside@reddishhallschool.co.uk. In return, you will receive a letter informing you of the decision that has been made (authorised or unauthorised).
- Any absences that have not been requested in this way will automatically be recorded as unauthorised.
- Please be aware that we do not have to authorise pre-planned absences of any nature, however, we do our best to be reasonable.
Medical appointments:
Where a pupil needs time off due to a medical appointment, please email kaiya.garside@reddishhallschool.co.uk or pupilabsence@reddishhallschool.co.uk –Please include the date and time of the appointment, how long the pupil will be away from school and proof of appointment, where possible.
Recognising attendance and punctuality:
At Reddish Hall, we love to acknowledge achievements. At the end of each term there are certificates for all those pupils with 100% attendance. You may even see a post card delivered from the postman to say a big ‘well done’ to those who have tried hard to improve their attendance and/or punctuality.
