Dear Parents/Carers ,
I am writing with regards to World Book Day on the Thursday 3rd March 2022. During World Book Day, pupils will be completing lots of activities and competitions to help develop a love of reading.
Why reading is important? Reading helps pupils to develop mentally, emotionally and psychologically. Every book provides an opportunity to learn and explore new ideas. Reading books increases their knowledge, makes learning and school easier and helps with their confidence and independence. Pupils’ need to read for at least 20 minutes a day to help improve their skills both within reading and across the curriculum.
|Star Reader||Pupils can sign up for a reading competition to win prizes and the pupil who reads 15+ books by the end of the year will be entered in to a prize draw to win a Hamper|
|Drop Everything & Read||Pupils are to pick a book from the library (or bring their own) to read throughout the w/c 28/2/22|
|Mystery Books||All pupils will receive a ‘mystery book’ that they can keep and use for themselves or to go towards the Star Reader competition|
|Home Reading Competition||Parents/carers to take a photo of their child reading at home and email it to email@example.com All entries will receive a prize!|
|Short Story Competition||Pupils to write a short story. All entries will be entered in to a draw and the prize winner will be picked at random on the 3rd March|
