Earlier this month pupils and staff from Belmont School’s primary site celebrated The Chinese New Year. The boys learnt all about the traditions, history and rituals associated with the Chinese New Year. Children also made place mats featuring Chinese symbols, images and their names written in Mandarin. Everyone enjoyed a Chinese themed lunch complete with burning Incense sticks, chopsticks and fortune cookies. The hall was decorated in red, a prominent colour during traditional Chinese Celebrations and lanterns. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day whilst deepening and extending their knowledge of another culture.
