School closure – Update 13th May 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Public Health Stockport have advised that the school site remains closed until at least Tuesday 18 May to all pupils other than those that have been asked to self-isolate until Thursday 20 May (returning to school on Friday 21 May).   This is to ensure that any asymptomatic cases can be identified before children mix more widely.  You can help us ensure that asymptomatic cases are picked up by your child taking a test, either a lateral flow test or a PCR test. Please let us know the results, whether positive or negative by emailing the email account.  This will enable us to safely reopen on Tuesday to most pupils.

In the meantime, all pupils and staff will need to continue to self-isolate.

We will confirm the reopening of the site by 2pm on Monday 17 May.

Lateral flow tests are used twice weekly by staff to pick up on any asymptomatic cases, thus ensuring we can contact trace and ask close contacts to self-isolate as soon as possible to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.  This is what has happened on this occasion; four asymptomatic cases were identified through these tests and confirmed with the PCR testing.

To book a PCR (lab) test for your child please use this link: Get a free PCR test to check if you have coronavirus (COVID-19) – GOV.UK (  Your child is able to get a test as they’ve been asked to get a test by your local council.

You can also get a LFT by following this link: Find a rapid lateral flow test site in your area – GOV.UK ( which means you can do this test at home and have a result within 30 minutes.

Please take care and stay safe.  While restrictions ease again next week, coronavirus is still catchable.  With more mixing, we still have to take care.

There will be no one on site until Tuesday May 18.  If you need to get in touch, please do so by emailing admin, or using the contact emails or numbers you would do normally for specific staff members.  Our team will stay in touch until then to support learning and your child.

Kind regards,

Sarah Makin
